Early complications

  • Ischemia (Lack of blood supply)
  • Bleeding
  • Oedema (Swelling)
  • Mucocutaneous separation (Detachment from the skin)
  • Purulent drainage (Skin)
  • Erosion of skin and pain

Late complications

  • Stenosis (Narrowing)
  • Retracted (at or below the skin level)
  • Parastomal hernia
  • Prolapsed (Bulging out of stoma)
  • Granulomas (small area of inflammation)
